12/23/1912	Rash Behari Ghosh and Sachin Sanyal threw a bomb at Viceroy Lord Hardinge II in Delhi. He had come to Delhi on an elephant for the initiation of the new capital. The Viceroy was injured in the bomb blast.
8/8/1940	Dilip Narayan Sardesai, cricketer (high scoring Indian batsman of sixties), was born in Margao, Goa. He has received Arjun Award (1970).
5/4/1783	Tipu Sultan was enthroned as the ruler of Mysore after the death of Haider Ali in a simple ceremony at Bednur. He continued the Second Mysore War against the English. He defeated many EnglishGenerals like Brithwhite & Col. Bailey. Tipu Sultan signed the treaty at Mangalore on 11th March 1784 A.D. which was known as the Mangalore treaty.
5/6/1948	India rejected the Security Council's plan for UN supervision over plebiscite in Kashmir.
10/15/1686	Aurangzeb attacked and conqured Bijapur and this was the end of the Muslim Adilshahi's era.
8/22/1988	Gorkha National Liberation Front signs an accord with the Centre and West Bengal on formation of an elective hill Council for Darjeeling.
3/3/1839	Jamshedji Nasarvanji Tata, famous industrialist and father of modern technology, was born at Navsari near Surat, Gujarat. He started cotton mills in Bombay and Nagpur and founded the Tata Iron and Steel Company, which is one of the largest integrated steel mills in the world.
2/27/1803	Great fire in Bombay.
12/16/1921	Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation started tunnel construction under Hoogly river.
12/26/1986	Consumer Rights Act was passed.
