Historical Event on 4/3/1999
Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2E), fifth satellite in INSAT-2 series, launched. This has multipurpose communication & meteorological capabilities. This is still in use. Launched by European launch vehicle Ariane, ISRO has leased eleven 36 MHz equivalent units of C-band capacity on board to INTELSAT organisation.

11/20/1942	Attri Devi, freedom fighter, was arrested for further six months. She was earlier arrested for personal satyagraha and to hoist the national flag in Delhi Central Jail on January 26.
2/25/1999	The curtains came down on the fifth National Games. Manipur won the overall championship while swimmers Nisha Millet of Karnataka and Sebastian Xavier of Kerala were adjudged the best sportswoman and sportsman respectively.

10/26/1932	Chinadorai Deshmutu, Indian field hockey player (Olympics-1952), was born.
10/25/1990	Captain Sangma, first Chief Minister of Meghalaya, died.
8/28/1972	General Insurance Business was nationalised.
12/30/1974	Opening of the fifth Indian Film Festival. It was presided over by Satyajit Ray at New Delhi.
5/24/1990	Surjit Singh Barnala sworn in as Governor of Tamil Nadu.
