Historical Event on 3/1/1971
Central Translation Bureau was setup as a subordinate office under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Bureau undertakes translation work of manuals, codes, forms and other non-statutory procedural literature of various ministries, departments, offices of the Central Government and Undertakings, Banks etc.

9/8/1962	Chinese army infiltrated in the north-east border of India exceeding the Mac-Mahon line (Tibet-India boundary). This was the first ocassion of Chinese infiltration.
10/16/1942	Cyclone in Bay of Bengal kills some 40,000 people in south of Calcutta, India.
2/22/1958	Maulana Abul Kalam Azad passed away in New Delhi, India. He was a great leader, great orator, revolutionary and fighter for national freedom. Some of his works which are the masterpieces of the Urdu language are ""Ghubari-Khatir"" and Tadhkirah"". He was Minister of Education in the first Indian Government.
4/19/1975	First Indian Satellite ''Aryabhata'' launched. The Satellite provided technological experience in building and operating a satellite system. It was launched by Russian launch vehicle Intercosmos.
7/12/1949	Dutch KLM Constellation crashes near Bombay, 45 die.
12/3/1948	Surendra Pratap Singh, famous journalist and chief editor of Navbharat Times, was born.
1/24/1951	Nehru assails US. demand for UN to name Peking as aggressor in Korea, New Delhi.
8/19/1992	K.R.Narayanan elected the ninth Vice President of India.
11/16/1995	The Pension scheme ordinance for 18 million Provident Fund subscribers takes effect with an initial corpus of Rs. 85.00 billion.
