Historical Event on 1/1/1988

The Officers Training School (OTS) was re-christened as Officers Training Academy. Besides training Indian nationals, 74 cadets from Sri Lanka have also been trained at the OTA.

7/21/1988Indian National Satellite (INSAT-1C) launched. This is operational multi-purpose communication and meteorology satellite. It served for only one and a half years. It was launched by European Ariane launch vehicle Ariane-3.
